District 5 Boundaries

District 5 covers most of the area bounded by the Caltrain tracks, Mathilda Ave., Highway 101, and the Santa Clara border. This area includes the SNAIL, San Miguel, Victory Village, Hazelheads, and Lowlanders neighborhoods. D5 also includes the Cannery Park neighborhood, bounded by Caltrain, Mary Ave., Central Expressway, and Mathilda Ave.

Why do we have Districts, anyway?

In 2019, the City of Sunnyvale voluntarily began a process to switch to district elections in response to action filed under the California Voting Rights Act. In March of 2020, Measure B went to the voters, proposing 6 districts and a directly elected mayor. Richard was proud to work on the YES on B campaign, and Measure B won by a 62-38% margin.
